ABOUT US
Thornbury Park is a community open space connecting Isleworth and Hounslow in West London.
It was originally a gravel pit but is now a substantial
open grassland park with woodland areas. It has a skate park, a children’s play ground, an outdoor gym, a hard play area for Basketball, football and netball and a community orchard.
Back in the 1960s it featured in the Beatles film A Hard Day’s Night. These days it provides a vital green open space for a multicultural community in a bustling urban environment.

Sun shines for latest work party
The sun shone brightly for our May work party. We repaired the new beech hedge alongside the derelict tennis club. 50 out
Volunteer work parties
March saw our first work party in the park since covid. 19 volunteers turned up and the council inspector said we did a great job. Now we will be having a work party on the second Saturday of the month ending in October. The Council have also given us a small grant to purchase necessary tools and safety equipment.
Removing hiding places.
The tree team have completed removing all the unwanted undergrowth that can be reached at the edges of all the woodland at
A hedge for the future.
The tree team worked hard in the park recently planting 4 silver birch and hundreds of whips to make a future hedge
Two more young trees adopted
We have almost 70 young trees in the park and they need some TLC, especially when they are forced to go almost
Facilities
Skate park
Popular with everyone, from kids on their scooters through to some older skateboarders and BMX riders.
Outdoor gym and playground
A good range of self-powered outdoor gym machines for everyone's benefit, plus a playground for all the little ones.
Sports court
A hard play area with lines and goals for basketball, football and netball.
